Stephen is certified as a specialist to work with problem gamblers and their families through the New York Council on Problem Gambling. Problem gambling is often a “hidden addiction” but it can create serious difficulties for individuals and their families, impacting finances, work, marital relationships and mental health. New York State has recognized this due to the increase in casino gambling, online gambling and other activities we don’t always associate with gambling such as lotteries and sports betting. Problem gamblers can learn how to change this behavior and the thinking and psychological factors that exacerbate it. Financial assistance can be provided through New York State to cover or reduce the costs of therapy for this problem. Stephen can help clients and their family members access the state agency to help pay for this type of therapy.
